The Black Mansion

The Mansion is home to many creatures, considered to be a pa;ace in many ways for its 20 Bedrooms and Bathrooms, a ball room, a dining hall, kitchen, great hall, and gardens in the back.

Arane strode through the halls of her home dressed in her dark red dress she always wore when it wasn't time to fight for her life. She kept he dagger hidden at her thigh beneath the fabric for close encounters. She was thirsty tonight and sough her way to the Mansions kitchen for a drink. Once Arane reached the door, she couldn't help but feel someone was nearing the mansion. She never locked the double door entrance of the mansion. She allowed anyone to enter. Whoever they were, she would seek them out after she had a sip of whine from the Mansions refrigerator. Red whine was her favorite. She poored the contents into a wine glass and fiddled with the liquid a while as she allowed her senses to heighten for sounds of her visitors approach.

A pitter patter of sounds had been noised from the creeky wood of the black mansion and possibly giving away her location, and her youthful body grew hot with nervousness swimming in her veins as Mia neared her target. As the child drew closer, she lowered herself to her hands and knees like a cat in a hunting mode to prevent any more noises escalating. She crawled quickly among the halls with a sneaky grin plaster on her face, however arriving at the door frame of the kitchen grew anticipation; it was go time. Mia rose off the ground and waited beside the door frame, occasionally peaking at her elder target. She couldn't help but giggle, and as Arane sipped her adult beverage, Mia hurdled herself at her sister. "BOO!"

Arane heard the sounds quiet for a moment before she caught the scent of a familiar nearby. Curious, Arane prepared to put her glass on the island counter before her when a child's voices sounded from the door way. The girl was young and Arane made just enough time to set her glass down before catching the girl mid-air by the collar of her shirt, but the impact caused both of them to tumble backwards. Sprawled on the floor, Arane blinked a few times, staring up at the child in question. She was silent before she found words."Remove yourself from me this instant." Arane dredged being pinned to the floor with her wavy black hair fanned out and her dress some inches up from her legs.

Mia did as told faster than a zip of lightning, but the youth couldn't contain her giggles. "I got you! I got you!" She pipped, squeaks of excitement radiating from her she jumped around while clinging to her stuffed kitten. Mia made eye contact with Arane, noting her seriousness, was immediately drained from excitement and filled with disappointment. "Did I do something wrong, sis?" Mia croaked, hugging Stephen (her beanie-baby kitten toy) tightly as sadness swelled in her.

Arane climbed to her feet as the youth giggled and announced her triuph while holding a stuff kitten she hadn't seen earlier. The Arrow took time to straighten her dress and hair before assessing the girl before her at her sudden question."Sis?" After a long period of thought, it hit her."Mia?"Arane leaned against the island for support as surprise engulfed her expression. She was six by the look of her. Arane wondered how she had managed to get her on her own."You've done nothing wrong...What brings you here?" Arane was trying to put the pieces together. She took a gulp of whine to keep herself saine.

Mia placed Stephen upon the countertop before she hopped upon the counter as well, eye level with Arane, and kicked her feet back and forth while she ran her fingers through Stephen's matted, dirt/blood covered fur. Stephen needed a bath, as did Mia and she giggled as she inwardly pictured Stephen's fur drenched with water. He'd look like a fluff ball. While reminiscing upon the image, Arane spoke up and Mia pondered the question with thought. It had been a while since the youth had thought about the day of how her new life began. "Um, remember when the bad men took mommy and daddy and how I ran away? They burned daddy at the stake, but they kept mommy as a prisoner. I followed the carriage they were in, snuck into the castle, and stayed with mommy in her cell. The King released me and took me in as his own, taught me the way of the mortals, and treated me like a queen. I.. ended up feeding of one of the knights. Human food is not satisfactory like blood is, and I fled before I was caught. So here I am. Do you have any food?"

Arane listened as Mia told her story. Pain filled the Arrow as she reminded Arane of their parents death. Arane had escaped and didn't turn back. She didn't regret it. A vampire must do what it needs to in order to survive. Besides, she thought Mia was killed. She sighed at the end of the tale."I see."At the mention of food, Arane glanced at the stuffed animal and noted that the attac on the so called knoght was rather recent. Mia had not been accustomed to restraining her vampiric abilities and neither did she know how to control her thirst. Arane went to the fridge again and pulled out cold blood packets Arane kept in cases of emergencies when she was unable to hunt or for guests who eeded the blood to live. SHe removed the cap and held it out to the girl."Drink slowly or you will make yourself sick. There is more in the fridge if you need them."Arane went to the kitchen doorway after retrieving her glass of wine. She glanced at the girl before heading down the hall."I'll be in the library if you need me."She called.

In the library, Arane sat in her high back chair by the fire as a servant entered with a single lit candle in one hand and books in the other."Attend the young girl in the kitchen." Arane commanded softly."Bath her and settle her in a room on the highest floor. Let me know if she wants something."The servant nodded and placed the books she held on a table before leaving to attend their guest. Mia would pose something of a challenge for Arane and she knew that. Taking a sip of whine, she wished she had a taste of blood now...

Her elder sister had tossed Mia a packet of blood, and as soon as the child laid eyes upon it, she seemed to have went in a frenzy. The iron-filled fluid was gone within a quick second or two, completely ignoring Arane’s warning. Mia sighed contently while running a slithery tongue over her fangs and teeth, sweeping up any leftovers from the packet, and rubbed her stomach with bliss as she had her fill. As soon as Mia returned from her feeding state, she realized she was completely alone as Arane dismissed herself to the library. “Looks like its just you and me, Stephen,” Mia murmured, running her hand through her toy’s dirty, matted fur.

Her head lifted as a voice called her name, and Mia jumped off her perch and followed the female woman in a suit who escorted her to the bathroom. The woman ran water in the tub, before giving Mia a nod and shut the door. “It’s been forever since a bath..” Mia murmured happily, setting Stephen on the toilet seat so he wouldn’t get wet, and soon undressed to take her bath. She drenched herself in bubbles while sitting in the steaming water, before laying back and went under the surface.

Arane glanced behind her chair when she heard footsteps enter the library."Everything alright?"Arane asked with slight concern, though her voice was bland. The servant nodded before standing beside Aranes chair with reserved patience, awaiting her masters orders. Arane wondered about her younger sister for a while. The girl could live here, but was it possible someone had followed her here? The Arrow gulped the rest of her wine and handed it to the servant girl beside her."Ready my warrior suit."She commanded. The servant nodded to her orders and hurried out the door. Arane roused herself to her feet and went to the fire. Her eyes blazed the color of burning metal red mixed with orange. "I better check on the girl."She said and exited the library in long strides, her dress sweeping behind her.

Reaching the bathroom, Arsne knocked on the door gently, hesitantly."Mia, you alright?" She asked after a moment.

Mia’s drenched head broke back up through the surface once more as a voice rang from behind the door. Arane. “Yeah I’m okay,” Mia called, wiping her face with a towel before the soapy water burned her eyes. Her skin wrinkled slightly and Mia plucked the plug and watched as the water disappeared into the drain. She wrapped her body in a towel, then walked towards the door, leaving behind a trail of water. “Do you have any clothes for me?” She inquired softly as she wiped her eyes again as water dripped from her hair onto her face. The child yawned as the heat of the room engulfed and relaxed her, easing her slightly to become drowsy.

Arane nodded to Mias voice on the other side of the door, hearing water on the floor as she guessed Mia had gotten out of the bath. The servant she had sent to ready her suit had returned with a white dress knee length. "Yes I have a dress for you."Arane replied when her sister asked if she had something to wear. She ushered the servant to enter the bathroom. No men were around. Standing in the entrance, Arane addressed her sister with a blank look on her face."I'm going out tonight. My servant Aria, will take care of you. She is your to command. You are free to do what you like but do not leave this mansion." Arane turned on her heal without waiting for a reply. She was still short tempered and she would rather not take it out on her beloved sister. If she was ever beloved.

With her weapons and suit on, Arane headed for the double doors of the Mansion. Outside, the night was still young. The moon tonight wasn't full, but she would hunt later. Tonight, she had company. As expected, a party of men traveled not far from the mansion, following the dirt path hat would lead them to the Arrow of the Vampires. There were four of them, heavily armed as though ready to heed battle. Arane returned to where she stood. Her foresight was hand in situations like this. Casually, she started down the path to intersect the men and have a talk with them.
